Enjoying The Tiki Lifestyle

By Kevin Lewis

When was the last time you remember actually thinking about a tiki? When was the last time you even remember seeing one? Tikis, especially if you live in an area that has a lot of them, become something taken for granted. Tikis really can offer a bit more than simply being part of the environment. Sometimes looking at things in a different way, you can open your eyes to the idea that tikis can actually be a lot of fun, can make your home or living space more interesting and give you joy in your daily life.

You may be thinking "Who cares? Tikis are just some things that businesses use to spruce up a place, but no one really notices. They just fade into the background." Well, unless you are one of those people who really dislike them (yes there are some people that don't) I think there are some good reasons to give them some attention.

First, tikis just look cool, in a sort of rudimentary way. While perhaps not as polished and elegant as a marble masterpiece from the Renaissance, they never the less can have a striking and powerful effect. Tikis emerged from ancient Polynesian culture from an era long past. The thought of those ancient times and exotic tropical locales can certainly capture one's mind in reverie.

Polynesian culture is a vast and interesting subject unto itself, and worthy of study for those interested. For the purposes of this article, however, it will be sufficient to understand that tiki statues represent the "First Man." It was thought that the "First Man" was, himself, a god and that all Hawaiian people descended from him. There were other gods as well, typically including the god of war, the god of agriculture, the god of creation and the god of the sea. When a tiki statue was created, if the god it represented was pleased he would actually inhabit the statue and provide strength, power and protection to the people.

Vicarious experience can be another important aspect to consider about tikis. A tiki can be a colorful and effective stimulus to help us enjoy the beauty and peacefulness of the tropics vicariously. Tiki statues are not the only things that can provide this stimulus. Tiki huts, tiki bars, tiki lights, tiki torches and tiki parties, or luaus, can all provide that same gateway to a mental paradise, if we will become aware of it, and simply allow it to happen.

With so many fun and exciting things going for them, why would anyone ignore them? Why not put a little tiki into your life? All these tiki items seem to be available just about everywhere, and are usually inexpensive.

For do-it-yourselfers, lots of tiki items can be made. Tiki statues and tiki huts might be a little harder and more involved, but even they can be made if one is willing to take a little time and put in some work.

For those not quite so highly motivated, a tiki party might be a good way to start. Most things for a tiki party are really easy to get and give you really great effects for very little expense.

I hope that some of these ideas can help you take a fresh view of tikis and how much fun they can be. Best of luck and I hope tikis can bring you wonderful enjoyment!

How To Add To Your Life By Subtracting From It

By Evan Sanders

It's time to erase. It's time to get rid of some things that don't serve you anymore.

The less distractions you have in your life the more you understand the meaning of balance. You can't just keep tacking things onto your life expecting to change for the better. Eventually you are going to have to clean out the bad habits as well.

Maybe it's about time you get rid of all of the unnecessary things surrounding you so you can uncover the person you have always been.

Start facing your fears, your ego, all of the personal judgements and everything else that is holding you back. Take a step off of the stage and enter into a way of being that supports you instead of adds toxic energy into your life.

What would happen to your life if you actually did that?

I found out. Wasn't comfortable because I felt lost for a while, but I really did find out. In fact, you know how anxiety inducing it can be to really begin to comprehend that you have absolutely no control over the future?

These changes will cause you to panic a bit, to try to control everything, and to try to manipulate which way your life is heading.

The only time you have is now. Right now. There's no other time that you truly have access to. So while you may be thinking about trying this out in the future, you have to realize that there is no guarantee of a grand future.

Subtract to add. As frustrating and scary as that might be, work with it. It will add so much to your life.

It's in connecting to the present moment that everything becomes possible. It's only when we build prisons in the future or the past that we start disconnecting from the moment and our life becomes more chaotic.

Let it all free.

Everything Can Change In A Flash

By Evan Sanders

Things can change so quickly. Situations that you never even imagined can come to be and your entire life can change right in front of your eyes in just a couple of seconds.

What's even stranger is that your mind can suddenly change with a snap of perspective. Everything that you thought was "one way" can turn into another.

And that thing that was taking up so much of your brain power exits from your life and makes room for something completely new. It's almost like there was nothing there before.

When you are young, you don't really believe in "timing." You only have your world that you're living in and no one else's really matters that much. We naturally live in a selfish place and only really think of our needs first.

But as you grow older, you learn that it doesn't just take a ton of effort put toward a situation to make it happen. Life doesn't really work that way. Sometimes you really do have to be in the right place at the right time to make something happen.

If you believe in that idea, and you relax a little bit, many different things can happen for you. Your entire world could change if you really settled into that idea.

Patience becomes the word that guides your life. It makes you understand that life works on its own clock and no matter how badly you want something, the timing has to be right for it to sprout.

That is a path towards happiness and true inner peace.

You can start to build serious faith in your life and the way you're living.

And as life has it, the world will become a place of nurturing instead of hinderance when you view your world differently.

In time, all things get better. In time, the universe will unfold to you.

The Power Of Big Dreams

By Evan Sanders

We live in a world that is swimming with unlimited amounts of choice. Therefore, it's even more important for you to cherish the people in your life who go to battle for you day in and day out. This commitment is one of the rarest things of all.

We are so afraid to commit because we don't want to put ourselves on the line and screw it up. We don't want to make ourselves look stupid and do the wrong thing.

So instead of actually making a decision about things, we live in that world of choice and never end up really making a decision.

All of the choice becomes a paralysis in itself. We have so many options that we can't actually end up making a decision at all.

This makes it so rare to come across someone who is going hard for their dreams or for other people.

But for a mass amount of people...they don't choose this path because they don't want to get hurt.

They don't want to do the wrong thing. They don't want to make a fool of themselves in front of other people.

Instead, they play it safe...and because they do that...

They of course avoid getting hurt...

But also prevent themselves from being everything and anything they could have been if they really had actually dove headfirst into what they always dreamed of. They stop themselves from looking bad, but they never get to see the light of what they could have been.

Most only realize that until it's too late. Way too late.

So you have to actually go for what you want and dive in head first even if there's a big chance it won't work out.

Because if you don't, you will spend the rest of your life regretting the fact that you never actually took the chances you were meant to take.

This is the only way you can make dreams happen. This is the only way you can truly live your life instead of just survive through it.

And that...is priceless.

Do This, So When You're Dying You Will Never Have To

By Evan Sanders

In every single one of us is a dreamer.

We are all capable of doing incredible things. Some have lost their way. Others have given up in the past. But that doesn't mean you don't have the ability to dream anymore.

We are all capable of doing amazing things if we truly believe in ourselves for once.

Because if we don't believe in ourselves, how are you ever really expected to do something you've never done before?

You can't and you won't.

In order to acquire something you've never had, you must do all of the things you've never done. But without a strong foundation guiding you, you will always be a few steps behind of what it actually takes to make these things happen.

Combine that with a willingness to get through any and every obstacle that comes your way and you will become unstoppable.

Being absolutely terrified is part of the process.

It's a good thing if you don't let it paralyze you.

That's part of the game.

Fear is going to enter into your life every single day you go after this big dream of yours. That's part of the journey. That's meant to be there to make you prove just how bad you want something.

Even if you are absolutely terrified, do it anyways.

Do it because you know that you will be able to become something far greater than what you are now. Do it because your heart knows it's the right thing to do.

Do it because it scares you to death and you know that it is going to change you in ways that you aren't too sure about yet.

Do it...

So when you're reaching the end of your life and looking back on it all...

You can say to yourself...

"At least I went for it. At least I gave it my best effort and I don't have to spend the rest of my life regretting that I never really took a chance on what I knew I was supposed to."

So do it. Whatever it may be. Chase your dreams or feel the horrible sting of regret in the future. Put all of the work in now so you can become everything you've ever wanted to be. Try as hard as you can so you never have to wonder "what if?"

Magic In These Moments

By Evan Sanders

There's pressure.

Lots of pressure. The type of pressure that turns you into something you've never been before. The type of pressure that can crumble you or turn you into something amazing.

Every once in a while your heart can be conflicted and turn into a place of fury. It sees no way to go and is constantly challenged to move ahead.

This is a great pressure.

And it can build for a long time.

It runs over your chest, up through your cheekbones and down the sides of your neck. It circulates through you like chaos incarnate.

It begs you to do what you know you should do.

It begs you to change your actions, to drop everything you've ever done before, to let the old pieces of you fall away and to usher in a new era for yourself.

But when you are scared it's incredibly hard to dive into this place.

No matter the story we lived in before, you can never go back. You can never go back to the person you once were...and that's perfectly ok.

It's fine to live in that place.

And yet it's such a strange feeling.

It takes a lot of faith to drop into something new. It takes a lot of faith to step onto a path that you have no idea where it will take you. All you know is that it's going to take you somewhere great.

To run on faith...blind faith...is the hardest thing to do.

And it takes dropping the fear.

And yet...

Even though you are running into the future blind, it doesn't feel at all unguided.

So make the commitment to dive into what you know you need to do. Make the commitment that goes beyond saying that you're going to do it and actually do it for a change.

Leave all of the old pieces behind.

And step into something that will change your life. Never come back. Never look back.

All of the logic in the world will tell you to stay in as comfortable as a place as possible. Forget that. Dive into what makes you uncomfortable so you can move forward with your life.

Have faith.

Leave your mind behind.

Trust you are headed in the right direction.

No One Said It Would Be Easy

By Evan Sanders

No one ever said this was going to be easy.

No one ever promised you, kid, that it was going to be a cake walk...that you could just travel down the path and not get scraped up? How did you ever even have a whispering thought of that in the first place?

You know better than anyone else that it's going to be one of the most difficult paths in the world. You also know that you are going to have to fight for it every single step of the way.

No matter what happens, you must be willing to charge up the hill willing to take on all of the things that face you along the way.

The truth is, there's going to be nothing in this world that's going to be able to lessen any of the pain, suffering, or challenges that are going to keep coming your way.

There can be no excuses.

So end the wishing, or at least let those ones just fly right off your shoulder. It won't get easier. In fact, it's probably only going to get more challenging.

Because you're swimming upstream.

When you are swimming upstream, you are going to face currents that want to pull you right back into what everyone else is doing.

Keep going forward despite any amount of resistance. Never stop. Because one day when you look back on all that you accomplished you will be incredibly happy that you never quit.

Even if you feel like you're going to break you must continue forward. That feeling of wanting to break isn't you getting ready for breakdown, but more of a breakthrough.

Continue to take pride in the journey and earn it every single day.

The entire world is changing around you, and while you're shifting from time to time, you understand that there's something much more fundamental at play that is guiding you.

Can you continue to trust that?

Can you continue to put effort forward effort even though you might not see results right at the start?

Having big faith will endlessly guide you.

It will be the light you need to carry you forward.

Carry on.
