Save With Student Group Travel

By Kathryn Neal

Are you getting ready to set off on a travelling expedition to Europe this summer? If so are you taking advantage of savings from student group travel? You can find lots of ways to save some money by taking advantage of your educational status, and we have a few thoughts here. It is cheaper to go together with others, than by yourself.

Hostels are one way to save money. Clean well, these run places around the world take in students for a few days at a time and offer dormitory like services for sleeping. Some offer food too, which is usually an additional charge. The cost of these services is low, and you can get a shower, and a cleanup, plus a good sleep and a nice breakfast before the start of the next day touring.

Most hostels also provide a place to buy simple cheap meals like cereals for breakfast and packed lunches plus bottled water and soft drinks. These places do shut down during the day, so you cannot stay in them during the day, but you usually want to be out exploring anyway. Some hostels are quite large and can accommodate large groups of students, or if you are traveling in a smaller group there are smaller hostels that may be more intimate and have a cosier atmosphere.

We find that the extremely cheap airlines are a great way to travel, sometimes even cheaper than taking the trains. Just remember that some of these really really cheap airlines charge you to go to the bathroom, so be prepared for a shock! Everything is extra, even booking your bags, and picking your seat, or buying a bottle of water. They are cheap though and that money saved can be spent somewhere else.

Many countries and even much of Europe offer train passes, which are much cheaper for those still in the education world. Britain offers the Britpass, and Europe offers the Europass. Both have a vastly reduces cost for those still studying. Take advantage of these offers, and you and your friends can save even more money if you travel together.

Entry into many of the different attractions can be cheaper for people still at school, and even cheaper again for groups. Working together to find these deals can be a challenge, but the savings can really add up over a few months or weeks of travel. Even if you meet up with people at a hostel, and you find you have the same interests, you can then travel together for a few weeks.

Travelling by bikes is a great money saver. You can see the countryside. Meet people you would not normally have met. Moreover, you will be able to travel easily in larger than normal groups. This is a wonderful way to travel.

Teaming up with others and taking advantage of student group travel can really help you to save money when you go on your travels this summer. Get out there and meet people, and most important have fun. You will save money without even trying.
