The Truth Of Prosperity Scriptures That Will Change Your Life

By Zoe Smith

I know you've thought about it before: Does God want to teach me a lesson by not giving me money and good health? The answer is a resounding no. God's heart is to see you walking in the fullness of life! May it be in finances, health or relationships, God's will for you is to be in abundance and prosperity at all times. You can glean this truth from the prosperity scriptures written in the Bible.

Set apart people for God have been known to enjoy Gods unmerited favor and grace in terms of their possessions and reputation. Consider Abraham. He is the father of Faith even before the concept of faith was ever established properly. He was so prosperous with livestock and servants that the land could not support both him and his nephew, Lot and they had to separate. Sarah, his wife could still leave princes and kings with their mouths hanging open at her beauty. She was ninety years old. That is divine abundance.

How about Joseph? He was a dreamer scorned by his brothers and sold to slavery. When he served his master faithfully, the master's wife had him thrown to prison on wrongful charges. In prison, he still served the warden, even helping out one inmate by correctly interpreting his dream of freedom--and yet he too was forgotten by this friend. Does this sound like you? Beset by troubles, never seeing the light at the end of the tunnel? Cheer up and be faithful. God knows and He delivers. In one day Joseph went from the pit to the palace where he served as second in command to the whole of Egypt.

But you think, that was the Old Testament, and all Gods divine actors seem to be only about one race of people that has nothing to do with today's world. That's not true. Study the New Testament books in greater detail. You will find that Abraham is known to be the father of Faith and if you have faith--you too can partake of this promise. That's right. The promise stated in Genesis 12:2-3,'I will bless you and make your name great; I will bless those who bless you, And I will curse him who curses you; And in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.'--this is yours if you believe.

Some people mistakenly point to some scripture verses as Gods promotion of living a less than blessed life of lack. How can this be true if God rewards prosperity to people that seek His ways? 1 Chronicles 22:13 Then you will have success if you are careful to observe the decrees and laws that the LORD gave Moses for Israel. Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or discouraged. Mark 10:29-30 'I tell you the truth,' Jesus replied, 'no one who has left home or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or fields for me and the gospel will fail to receive a hundred times as much in this present age (homes, brothers, sisters, mothers, children and fields and with them, persecutions) and in the age to come, eternal life.'

Prosperity scriptures come with caution to those receivers of the promise. You need to be good stewards and not prioritize money over God and neighbor. Wise counsel that balances the desire of God for our personal abundance. Jesus said, 'The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.--It is a promise worth claiming.'
