Weird National Holidays Are Everywhere

By Anita Ortega

There are so many people in the world who like to celebrate things that are different from anyone else. Everyone around knows that weird national holidays truly exist and they have been around for quite some time. People who are living in the United States really love to take the time to spotlight all of these occasions.

Southerners like to celebrate Confederate Memorial Day each and every year. They know that this is one date that they can actually brag about their ancestors who were involved in the Civil War. This special date is recognized on a variety of days during the year.

It is a well known fact that Kentucky, Mississippi, Tennessee, North Carolina, Louisiana, Virginia, South Carolina, Georgia, Arkansas, Texas and Alabama all celebrate Confederate Day. This is one day that they can always rub the confederate flag in anyone's face who has a different opinion.

Unfortunately the date will also separate the races since black people do not like Confederate Memorial Day. They state that this date represents all of the negative things that went on in history. The Civil War was fought by the north to end slavery but southerners disagreed with this action.

Unfortunately so many Caucasian humans within the United States are not interested in the feelings that other people display. If you are different from them in any way at all they do not respect your thoughts. Despite any negativity all agencies under the state will close their business for one day.

People living in black communities have led marches against Confederate Memorial Day and the flag that goes along with it. They want all Americans to remember why the Civil War was fought and all of the trauma that it caused. Luckily people working for the state ignore all of the chaos that is going on about this date since they will have a free day off.

On February 13th people have the right to change their name for twenty four hours. Human beings who are not satisfied with the name that their parents gave them at birth will always like this day. Sometimes parents do not think about the horrible names that they are giving to their child after they are born and this is very unfortunate. Within American society there are some very strange names that are given to babies in hospitals everywhere. Many black people try to be different and will call their children African names after they are born.

The Middle Child Day happens on August 12th each and every year. This date will give all middle children the chance to be seen and heard. Parents everywhere can treat their second child to dinner and a movie on this day. The oldest and youngest child can also do great things for their middle sibling.
