It took me a very long time to take in the significance of the concept of quality over quantity. Maybe it's the society we reside in where sometimes more is better and getting free stuff is an enticing offer. It isn't difficult to get caught up in going for the cheapest thing on the table because it's often the easiest thing to get. Thing is, this does not challenge you. I think of myself as a firm believer of the indisputable fact that there are things, people and goals that can only ever be reached when you grow into them. When you are going for the cheap stuff, you are not cooked yet. The day you can really look yourself in the face and tell yourself that you aren't yet built to tackle something is an exceedingly grounding, truthful, and yet above all...inspiring day.
I believe the great majority of people are disappointed in life not because they aim too high and miss, but because they target too low and hit.
You need to be willing to make sacrifices for your own greater good.
You have got to be willing to put your name on the board, write a goal with it, and give it everything you have.
And here's the kicker, you have to be ready to truly elevate yourself at least 1% every single day in order to turn yourself into something amazing.
It's amazing the disconnect that happens when people search for happiness. What's interesting however, is when you don't seek it...it actually comes to you. I stopped my search for desired happiness completely. I didn't try and be cheerful at all. However, I did not partake in the everyday "just be satisfied" nonsense either. What I did was work on improving upon myself, doing the things that I knew would make me satisfied, and when it was right... I let real happiness find me.
There's so much out there about being happy... but I think anything, even more when it's concerned around an emotion, when attempted at too hard can basically turn out to be a complete tragedy or completely inauthentic. I think, in the long run, making incremental changes and improvements to yourself and letting happiness find you because you're being the best version of yourself will deliver you bigger joy in the long run.
The foundation of your best self is going to be built on the foundation of sacrifice. Are you really willing to do the things today that others do not ever do? Are you willing to do the things that you know you are capable of but are really hard? It's hard to look yourself in the face sometimes and say "I'm going to challenge my potential today. "
What sacrifices are you going to make?
